PELLA, IOWA – May 2, 2018Pella Corporation, a leading manufacturer and designer of windows, doors, and between-the-glass blinds and shades, today introduced its redesigned Architectural Design Manual, including augmented reality (AR) features on select pages, and created specifically with architect, builder and designer needs in mind, particularly as it relates to providing visual inspiration to clients.

The latest updates to Pella’s Architectural Design Manual are showcased in a hard-bound book that pairs well with digital content available at Pro.Pella.com, and help make it easier to select the Pella product line and type that meets project specifications required for each custom project. An overview of the newly refreshed manual can be viewed in a brief tutorial video. Pros can order copies of the Architectural Design Manual by contacting their local Pella rep or visiting one of Pella’s showrooms.

“We are excited to share our Architectural Design Manual and its AR-enhanced features with trade pros, especially with the architect and design community – our goal is for this manual to be a helpful tool that both inspires and helps pros get the information they need when and how they need it,” said Alan Pickett, Director of Architectural Business Development for Pella. “In addition to helping pros visualize our window and door products through AR capabilities and fresh look, we’ve simplified content for easier accessibility in both the printed manual and digital reference.”

The front of the manual provides guidance on completing designs using Pella products through project examples, product performance data and product application information from Pella’s Architectural Support Services Team. Composed of architects, engineers, and drafters, this team offers a variety of services ranging from preliminary design assistance, custom extrusions, thermal modeling, installation shop drawings, and on-site services.

The balance of the book features product information pages. There, readers will find product cross-sections, features, and a summary of data to assist with initial product selection. Detailed product information can be accessed via the QR codes on each product information page.

Additional features incorporated into the manual include augmented reality. When the Pella AR symbol appears at the top of the page, that’s how readers know there's something unique in store. All readers need to do is download the Pella augmented reality App from the Apple or Google Play App Store. Then, open the app, and point the camera at the page featuring the AR symbol. The augmented reality experiences in the book range from project case study videos that dig more into the project details, to a 3-dimensional view of the product.

The new Pella Architectural Design Manual is also available with the Pella Design Toolkit. The Toolkit features sample swatches of Pella product and hardware finishes and options, making it easier to visually inspire clients and create mood boards.
