Easy-Slide Operator Named International Design Excellence Award Winner

The Easy-Slide Operator – Pella Corporation’s innovative new hardware solution –– has been named a Gold winner of the International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) by the Industrial Designers Society of America. The awards program identifies and honors the pinnacle of design excellence in business, society and beyond.

“The Easy-Slide Operator shows our commitment to testing the limits of design and innovation,” said Nicolle Picray, brand communications and PR manager, Pella Corporation. “We listened to our customers’ feedback on how we could design something better for them and discovered that homeowners need hardware that is easier to use, and designers want an option that achieves a minimalist, low profile look.”

The hardware solution launched earlier this year and allows homeowners to open and close casement and awning windows by easily sliding the operator up to open and down to close the window, offering a much smoother operation and enhanced experience. Designed with a user-friendly grip and requires less than five pounds of pressure to use, the Easy-Slide Operator pairs function with innovation.

This award comes on the heels of the Easy-Slide Operator being recognized as Best in Show at the 2021 International Builders Show and being named the People’s Choice Award Winner in the 2021 AZ Awards for Design Excellence.

The International Design Excellence Awards recognizes products and services that encourage, inspire and push the industrial design industry forward while promoting innovation and excellence. Each year a panel of world-renowned judges reviews entries with unchanged criteria: design innovation, benefit to user, benefit to client/brand, benefit to society and appropriate aesthetics.

The Easy-Slide Operator is currently available on Pella Impervia fiberglass casement and awning windows. The company plans to expand the availability of Easy-Slide Operator to additional product lines in late 2021.
