Well part of being a responsible company is trying to improve the environment of the communities that you live in. So Pella Corporation has taken a lead role in educating and making communities in which we operate more aware of the potential pitfalls and dangers of electronics recycling. Televisions, computers, telephones and other electronic devices all contain heavy metals, which if they get into the environment can do significant damage. So, what we’ve done is through sponsoring community-wide electronics recycling days we’re able to divert up to four truckloads — semi truckloads — of electronics away from landfills and into a recycling environment. What we’re really trying to do is establish a long-term pattern in which members of the community can recycle electronics not just on one day a year that Pella sponsors, but also throughout the year.
