As part of its succession planning process designed to provide for smooth transitions, Pella Corporation has named Pat Meyer to succeed current President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mel Haught as the company’s top leader upon Haught’s planned retirement Nov. 30.
Meyer, who joined the privately-held, family-owned company headquartered in Pella, Iowa, in 1990, will now serve as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) until becoming the President and CEO Dec. 1. Meyer most recently served as Corporate Vice President, overseeing operations of EFCO, A Pella Company, and the company’s Wylie (Texas) Operations and Project Management Office (PMO).
“We thank Mel for his leadership and dedication to Pella Corporation since 1991,” said Charlie Farver, chairman of Pella Corporation’s Board of Directors, in announcing the leadership transition. “Mel was part of the team that brought the continuous improvement (CI) culture to Pella Corporation that thrives today. We’re confident that Pat Meyer will drive Pella’s focus on innovation, CI and customer satisfaction well into the future,” Farver said.
Meyer brings management experience in sales, marketing, operations, finance, manufacturing and continuous improvement to his expanded leadership role. “Pella Corporation is a great company and I’ve welcomed the opportunity to lead a number of areas of the business during my career here,” Meyer said. “I’m looking forward to working together with our team members to focus on building Pella Corporation’s industry leadership in residential and commercial markets by delivering innovative products and services to meet the needs of our customers for new construction as well as remodeling and replacement applications,” Meyer said.
Meyer, a native of Granger, Iowa, earned his B.S. and M.B.A. in Business Administration from Drake University in Des Moines. Today, he serves on Drake’s National Advisory Board. In addition, he’s a graduate of Northwestern University’s Executive Scholar Program in Marketing, and the Harvard Business School’s General Manager Program. Meyer and his family now make their home in Pella, Iowa.
In announcing his retirement, Haught said he’s pleased that Meyer will succeed him. “Clearly, the Pella Corporation team has achieved many milestones and I’m proud of all that our team has accomplished over the years,” he said.
“Pat is an effective leader who’s performed well in a variety of roles with the company across the country during his impressive career,” Haught said. “I’ve always admired the way Pat has demonstrated a positive ‘can do’ attitude and I know he’ll guide the Pella team to continued business success in his new role,” Haught said.
