The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Department of Energy (DOE) have named Pella Corporation as a 2008 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year award winner for the Product Manufacturer—Windows category for Pella’s outstanding contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by manufacturing and educating consumers about energy-efficient products. This is the second consecutive year Pella has received this recognition. Pella’s accomplishments will be recognized at an April 1 awards ceremony in Washington, D.C.
Pella, an ENERGY STAR partner since 1999, will be honored for its leadership in manufacturing products that earn the ENERGY STAR, the government-backed symbol of energy efficiency. This distinction honors Pella’s commitment to providing highly energy-efficient products, as well as the company’s comprehensive integration of ENERGY STAR information in media relations, consumer education programs, advertising, Pella Web sites and training materials.
Last year alone the government estimated that Americans, with the help of ENERGY STAR, saved a reported $16 billion on their energy bills alone and reduced greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of 27 million vehicles.
“Pella has been committed to environmental stewardship and providing quality product solutions to our customers throughout the company’s 83-year history,” said Elaine Sagers, vice president of marketing for the privately-held company known for quality and innovation. “Pella is proud to be recognized by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy for providing ‘green’ energy-efficient products that help customers save money and conserve valuable natural resources.”
The 2008 Partner of the Year Awards are given to manufacturers and retailers that successfully promote and deliver ENERGY STAR-qualified products, saving consumers money and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Award winners are selected from more than 9,000 organizations that participate in the ENERGY STAR program.
“By producing and promoting products that have earned the ENERGY STAR, Pella Corporation is educating consumers about the importance of energy efficiency,” said Robert J. Meyers, principal deputy assistant administrator for EPA’s office of Air & Radiation. “Pella’s efforts in manufacturing products that earn the ENERGY STAR make them a leader in demonstrating that consumers can enjoy quality products that also protect the environment.”
This is the second time Pella Corporation has received this recognition. In 2007, Pella earned the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year award for windows as a result of its leadership in manufacturing energy-efficient windows and educating consumers about them.
